Complete configuration guide for StratEngine Failed 2s reversal trading strategy
This guide covers all configurable settings for the StratEngine Failed 2s automated trading strategy. Failed 2s specializes in trading reversal patterns when 2-bar directional moves (2U/2D) fail to continue, using timeframe continuity (TFC) or ATR Trail for bias confirmation.

Trading Hours
The Trading Hours settings control when the strategy is active.
Start Time (Default: 18:00)
- Function: Defines when the strategy begins looking for trades
- How it works: No entries before this time
- Format: 24-hour format in your local timezone
End Time (Default: 16:00)
- Function: Defines when the strategy stops taking new trades
- How it works: Existing positions continue to be managed
- Overnight: Handles overnight sessions automatically
Max Daily Profit (Default: 9999999)
- Function: Maximum profit before stopping for the day
- How it works:
- Tracks realized P&L during the session
- Stops new trades when limit reached
- Resets at session start
- Default: Set very high (effectively disabled)
Max Daily Loss (Default: 9999999)
- Function: Maximum loss before stopping for the day
- How it works:
- Prevents excessive losses in one session
- Stops new trades when limit reached
- Resets at session start
- Default: Set very high (effectively disabled)
Risk Management
The Risk Management settings control position sizing and stop losses.
Base Size (Default: 1)
- Function: Starting position size
- How it works:
- Base for all position calculations
- Used when dollar risk sizing is off
- Martingale calculations start here
Martingale Type (Default: None)
- Function: Position sizing after losses
- Options:
- None: Always use base size
- Standard: Double after each loss
- Linear: Add base size after loss
- Fibonacci: Fibonacci sequence sizing
- Reset: Returns to base after any win
Use Dollar Risk Sizing (Default: false)
- Function: Enable risk-based position sizing
- How it works:
- Calculates contracts based on dollar risk
- Overrides martingale settings
- More consistent risk per trade
Risk Sizing Type (Default: Dollar)
- Function: How to calculate risk amount
- Options:
- Dollar: Fixed dollar amount per trade
- Percent: Percentage of account value
- Usage: Only applies when dollar risk sizing is enabled
Max Dollar Risk (Default: 200)
- Function: Maximum dollars to risk per trade
- How it works:
- Caps risk regardless of other settings
- Used for position size calculation
- Safety limit for all trades
Risk Percentage (Default: 2.0%)
- Function: Percent of account to risk
- How it works:
- Used when Risk Sizing Type = Percent
- 2% of $10,000 = $200 risk
- Adjusts with account growth/drawdown
Account Size (Default: 10000)
- Function: Starting account value
- How it works:
- Base for percentage calculations
- Update to match your account
- Used with cumulative P&L tracking
Fixed SL (Default: false)
- Function: Use fixed stop loss distance
- How it works:
- When true: Always use Fixed SL Amount
- When false: Dynamic stops based on pattern
- Purpose: Consistent risk sizing
Fixed SL Amount (Default: 240 ticks)
- Function: Fixed stop distance in ticks
- How it works:
- Used when Fixed SL is enabled
- Same stop for all trades
- Ignores market structure
TFC Settings
The TFC (Timeframe Continuity) Settings control trend bias determination.
TFC Method (Default: ATRTrail)
- Function: Method for determining market bias
- Options:
- TimeframeContinuity: Multiple timeframe analysis
- ATRTrail: ATR-based trend following
- Impact: Completely changes bias calculation
HTF1-4 Minutes (Default: Various)
- Function: Higher timeframes for TFC analysis
- How it works:
- Only used when TFC Method = TimeframeContinuity
- Set to 0 to disable a timeframe
- All enabled timeframes must align
- Common Settings: 60, 240, 0, 0
ATR Trail Settings
Used when TFC Method = ATRTrail:
Fast ATR Period (Default: 10)
- Function: Period for fast ATR calculation
- Purpose: More responsive to recent volatility
Fast ATR Multiplier (Default: 1.5)
- Function: Multiplier for fast ATR bands
- Purpose: Determines band width
Slow ATR Period (Default: 3)
- Function: Period for slow ATR calculation
- Purpose: Primary trend determination
Slow ATR Multiplier (Default: 2.5)
- Function: Multiplier for slow ATR bands
- Purpose: Wider bands for trend filtering
Take Profit Settings
The Take Profit settings control how profits are taken.
Take Profit Type (Default: Based on selection)
- Function: Method for calculating targets
- Options:
- Prev_Candle_Range: Based on previous bar
- Fixed: Fixed tick amount
- Reward: Multiple of risk (R)
R Multiplier (Default: Based on setting)
- Function: Target as risk multiple
- How it works:
- Used with Reward TP type
- 2R = 2x initial risk distance
- Range: 0.5 to 10.0
Fixed TP Amount (Default: 240 ticks)
- Function: Fixed profit target
- How it works:
- Used with Fixed TP type
- Same target for all trades
- Independent of stop distance
% Prev Candle TP (Default: 75%)
- Function: Percent of previous candle range
- How it works:
- Used with Prev_Candle_Range type
- 75% of previous bar's range
- Dynamic based on volatility
Cover Risk (Default: true)
- Function: Partial exit at 1:1
- How it works:
- Exit half at break-even + spread
- Let remainder run to target
- Ensures some profit
Exit Strategy
The Exit Strategy settings control position exits.
Exit on First Reversal (Default: false)
- Function: Exit on pattern reversal
- How it works:
- Monitors for opposing pattern
- Exits immediately on reversal
- More conservative approach
Enable Break-Even (Default: true)
- Function: Move stop to break-even
- How it works:
- Triggers after reaching profit
- Moves stop to entry + offset
- Removes risk from trade
Break-Even Offset (Default: 0 ticks)
- Function: Profit locked at break-even
- How it works:
- 0 = Entry price (no profit)
- Positive = Guaranteed profit
- Triggered at initial risk distance
